Slice of heaven

She took a deep breath, the air was heavy with heat. She walked on the parched earth, huge cracks had appeared where the sizzling sun had shown its might. The climate had been unusually hot this time around. The thirsty land had started shrivelling up on itself. She had to walk everyday for miles around to arrange for food for her children. They had been a happy family, but however now her husband and fallen sick in the hot dusty climate of Delhi. They had already started shifting to their new place, their old house had a tendency to flood up when it rained. Anytime now, she thought, rains would be coming and giving relief to them. This heat was searing, the sun had shown its superiority even from lakhs of kilometres away. She reached home and found it vacant, the hollowed walls of sand staring back at her emptily, she looked out and saw that the sky seemed overcast, It must be about to rain, she thought, and began running on the path which led to her new house. The heavens opened up today and Delhi got its first rain, bringing relief to her ant family. HOORAHH for the Delhiite cockroaches, ants, dogs, humans and other species!! The clouds have finally been generous, although it isnt much of a rain, but its still a start, the climate has lightened up already. I feel happy!
